Ben Samuels

Ben Samuels believes in film as a universal language that brings us together in shared experience to build community.
Ben is a film and theatre maker with an emphasis on overlooked stories of hope and rebellion, and humanity's relationship to the natural world. He wrote, directed, and co-starred in the psychological thriller Hide, about the nuances of gaslighting and intimate partner violence. The film toured America for Domestic Violence Awareness Month alongside One Love Foundation and is endorsed by the National Domestic Violence Hotline. Ben is currently producing The Missing Piece, Executive Produced by Jason Momoa, and recently co-directed the dramatic short Type 1 with Anthony Rapp, starring Mary Wiseman and partnered with T1 International for National Diabetes Month. He's a current TIFF Sloan Breakthroughs and Humanitas New Voices Semifinalist, a two-time Nicholl Top 50 Finalist, and his screenplays have won the Austin Film Festival and Launchpad Screenwriting Competitions. He's currently collaborating with an artist on his debut graphic novel about some badass warrior women and penned the Holocaust novella Master Of Secrets, available on Amazon. Ben attended Tufts University and the British American Drama Academy, and is a dual citizen with Canada.
