June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month! The anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, which were a response by mostly trans and gender non-conforming people of color to police violence, is now celebrated by queers, trans and non-binary folks, same-gender-loving folks, gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and all those questioning/exploring their gender and sexuality.

New Day has a collection of films on LGBTQ+ themes, including One Wedding and a Revolution by Debra Chasnoff, which documents the first gay wedding in San Francisco between pioneering activists Del Martin and Phyllis Lyon. I’m Just Anneke, by Jonathan Skurnik, documents the life of a gender non-conforming twelve-year-old, as a window into a younger generation who find comfort in gender fluidity. The Year We Thought About Love, by Ellen Brodsky, goes behind the scenes of a queer youth theater in Boston as they use their life experiences to create a moving performance that builds bridges with their peers. You can find a complete list of our LGBTQ+ themed films.
