Gabriela Quiros
Introduction (2-3 lines)
Since 2006, Gabriela Quirós has worked as a TV producer specializing in science and environment at KQED, the premier PBS station in the San Francisco Bay Area. She has shared two regional Emmys, and three of her stories for KQED have been nominated for the award as well.
Gabriela is currently completing Beautiful Sin, a documentary for PBS that follows three infertile couples in Costa Rica as they fight their country’s unique ban on an assisted reproductive technique called in vitro fertilization (IVF). Costa Rica is the only country in the world that has outlawed this medical treatment.
Gabriela has master's degrees in journalism and Latin American studies from the University of California-Berkeley. She was born in Boston and grew up in Costa Rica. She lives in Berkeley, California, with her husband, arts and culture writer Andrew Gilbert, and their daughter.
