Dewey A. Ortiz, Jr. (Director/Writer) is an award-winning filmmaker, writer, and producer. His work is dedicated to shifting perceptions of African-Americans in cinema, particularly D.C.’s Black community. Much of his work highlights the perseverance of Washington, D.C., residents.

Higher Power (2023) highlights how 700,000 Americans are faring in a city where the ultimate power rests with those who don’t live here and don’t share our values. It is currently available for purchase through New Day Films and is streaming on Kanopy.
