Christen Hepuakoa Marquez
Christen Hepuakoa Marquez is an independent filmmaker based in Los Angeles, CA. She is committed to producing character driven documentaries covering social justice issues.
Christen’s directorial debut feature documentary, E Haku Inoa: To Weave A Name was broadcast nationally on public television for national mental health awareness month and Pacific Islander heritage month. The film was nominated for Best Documentary at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival and and Hawaiʻi International Film Festival. She also produced the award-winning narrative feature Two Shadows as well as docu-series for Nat Geo and Investigation Discovery.
She has been awarded the ‘Through the Soul of an Artist’ grant for Artistic Innovation by the Native Arts and Cultures Foundation and participated in CPB/PBS Producer’s Academy. Christen holds a BFA in Film and Video Production from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
