Shirley Thompson
Shirley Thompson is an Emmy award-winning editor, producer and story consultant based in Honolulu, HI. She is best known for the social issue documentaries she has edited, including Pidgin: the Voice of Hawai‘i (2008), Special Circumstances (2006), Surfing for Life (2000), & It's Elementary (1996). The documentaries she has produced and edited have aired nationally on PBS, screened at film festivals worldwide, and garnered Emmys, Best of Festival Awards, Cine Golden Eagles, and the DuPont Columbia Award for Journalism. She also writes and edits trailers and promos for film production companies, independent filmmakers and the Independent Television Service. A native of New Orleans, she lived and worked in San Francisco, CA and Dallas, TX before moving to Honolulu, HI in 2010. An avid walker and traveler, she walked 486 miles across Spain on the Camino de Santiago in 2009. She loves to cook, tends an organic garden and is addicted to Twitter, Facebook and farmers markets.
