Nekisa Cooper

Nekisa Cooper, an accomplished marketer and LA-based independent producer, has produced several projects, including the critically acclaimed narrative short PARIAH. Most recently, Nekisa was one of two producers to represent IFP at the 2009 Cinemart/Rotterdam Producing Lab and is a 2009 Film Independent Project Involve Fellow. In 2008, Nekisa was selected as one of five producers for the inaugural Sundance Institute Creative Producing Lab. In 2006, with award-winning writer/director, Dee Rees, she co-founded Northstar Pictures Inc., a company dedicated to telling stories that inspire and motivate audiences to interpret the world around them in a thoughtful and meaningful way. Currently, Nekisa is in post-production on the documentary feature, EVENTUAL SALVATION, which is slated to air on the Sundance Channel in late 2009. Nekisa is also in development on the feature production of PARIAH. Prior to film, Nekisa had a successful marketing career working in brand management for such companies as Colgate-Palmolive, L'Oreal and General Electric.
